SOFT LEAF Buffalo Turf – warm season c4 grass
SOFT LEAF Buffalo Turf is king of the heap, when it comes to soft leaf buffalo’s. Kings Pride is a new generation, hard wearing variety of soft leaf buffalo. Not harsh like some buffalo lawns were in days gone by. Kings Pride is a slow growing, lower maintenance lawn with a velvet touch. Reduced maintenance means less wear and tear on your mower and increased leisure time to enjoy your lawn. In commercial terms, mowing and edgeing will cost around half the price to maintain of an equivalent Kikuyu lawn. Kings Pride is a very recent Aussie buffalo registered and protected by PBR (Plant Breeders Rights). Being a surface creeper, Kings Pride is not as invasive as some lawns. Kings Pride has excellent shade tolerance and can cope with up to 80% shading, making it ideal for alongside your house and neighbouring fence.
Equally, Kings Pride will also thrive in full sun. Kings Pride is a low/medium water user and can be mown with intervals of up to two weeks or more. Kings Pride makes an excellent suburban lawn with luxurious deep green colour though the warmer months and retains good colour throughout winter. Kings Pride shown below.
Kikuyu Instant Turf – warm season c4 grass
Kikuyu instant turf has its origins in East Africa. Kikuyu texture varies slightly between varieties.
Due to its vigorous growth pattern in the warmer months, Kikuyu requires more maintenance than Buffalo turf. Particularly at the edges. Kikuyu produces a rewarding brighter green lawn that is tough as old boots. Kikuyu is best mown at weekly intervals. Kikuyu is considered cost effective for larger residential areas and commercial or sporting applications.
Due to its vigorous nature, kikuyu readily repairs itself and is a great lawn for high traffic areas and/or pets. It has a medium requirement for water for a lush lawn but watering can be reduced in times of water restrictions and will survive quite readily. Kikuyu enjoys full sun and does not like to be shaded.
